Well correct me if im wrong. However, considering i do own an original game cd that i had bought long ago and since then i still have it which is somewhat scratched up. I doubt its illegal. According to reference above it says that 'no CD cracks' are not necessarily illegal. 'No-CD cracks have legal uses, such as creating backups of legally owned software (a user right by law in many countries) or avoiding the inconvenience of placing a CD or DVD-ROM in the drive every time the software is being used.' Also from U.S.

I shall refrain from commenting further, except that IMO, there is quite a glaring omission of details in the CoC on no-CD bypasses, eg. No-CD cracks, burning of backup CDs and even the creation of CD images for local usage.joins in the dance. This message has been edited by Duan Xuan (edited @ 12:11 PM). Yeah there is quite some omission of details in the CoC on no-CD bypasses. It is not a copyright threat such as piracy or whatever. Also i by owning the CD and i mean by legally paid for it, according to eula i do own the rights to it and whatever is on it.

There was a custom 1.0e patcher for AoE2:TC made by a group (that could switch between that version and 1.0c), but I have no idea where it is located, and since what that 1.0e can do (allowing no CD in the drive), I cannot recommend it, and especially not link to a download... ... who knows if there even still exists a download to that patcher which isn't malware!

Do you have the 32bit package installed for mpg123 (lib32-mpg123)? Try giving the NoCD crack a shot, and also try running with win2k compatibility. Sorry I can't be of much help, if I had the game I would try the install myself.

So this is crazy! I installed lib32-mpg123, Microsoft's patch 1.0C, and the no-cd crack that works with 1.0C, and used winecfg to switch to Windows 2000 mode. And it worked! I even started a game, and closed and restarted the app several times. Even audio worked and nothing was slow or choppy! So all along I've been keeping a log of the actions I've taken so I can replicate it if I switch computers, have to reformat for some reason, etc. And so I was thinking that I'd see if I couldn't remove some unnecessary steps from the log. I did two things at that point - I first deleted the shortcuts the game had created in my Desktop directory as I found it more convenient to load the game from the KDE main menu, and second I uninstalled lib32-intel-dri thinking it might not be necessary. When I tried running the game again, I got the same error that I'd always gotten before. So I thought "okay lib32-intel-dri" must be important. I reinstalled it, and tried AOE again and it still didn't work! So now I'm totally perplexed... I've tried restarting the computer and verifying that winecfg is set to Windows 2000 mode, but running out of ideas... Any thoughts? Thanks again for all your help.

Therefore I was thinking if it was possible to create a directory under $HOME/.PlayOnLinux, something like "cdprefix" and add a simlink inside the c_drive of the game. This should increase the performance of several games, and it does not need a cd-crack, and the user does not have to search for cracks.

Welcome! This is a feature and bug-fix update for Age of Empires II:The Conquerors Expansion. Its primary focus is to correctseveral long existing issues with the game, the AI system, compatibility, and related elements. This update will not enable no-cd gameplay and requires a valid, existing installation of Age of Empires II: The ConquerorsExpansion v1.0c.

Disable this to revert the grey dots for player 7 on the mini-map to the original light grey of v1.0c. Although this tends to blend with stone and sand terrain on most monitors, some may be able to render it distinctly and effectively.

If you prefer the v1.0c-style 10 second delay for patrol over the 2 second delay, you can enable this option to change your default. Both delays are always available to you in-game. By holding the "Ctrl" key when clicking to set the patrol destination, you can use the alternate delay.

The update requires a valid installation of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion v1.0c. In order to verify your installation, it checks for age2_x1.exe in your "age2_x1" folder. If this file is not present, or your installation is in a non-standard state, you will not be able to proceed.

The update requires a valid installation of Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion v1.0c. If you receive this message, it means that the required files were found, but your installation may not be properly updated to v1.0c.

To prevent the loading of incompatible data, v1.5 uses the .mgz format for recorded game files. In order to watch a v1.0c .mgx file, you will need to use Enhanced v1.0c mode. In this mode, all game errors from v1.0c are maintained, in order to ensure compatibility. This mode is not recommended for actual gameplay.

If the file is version, you have a valid v1.0c executable file and there may be another reason for the failure. If your file version is different, you may need to reinstall the game or apply the v1.0c update before continuing.
